how'd you remove it?

There are a couple options.

1, you can buy one of those wax remover tools... let's see...

2) you can chill it down and then hit it so the wax breaks off -- dangerous, the only time I've actually heard of someone doing it this way, it was of a german sommelier who managed to break the bottle, nearly losing some century+ old wine in the process.

3) heat the top a little with a lighter to soften it, then just scrap a knife blade across the top. You just need to cut into the seal really, the corkscrew can punch through any that's left on top of the cork (which will usually fall off when you remove the cork from the screw later) Leave the rest on the bottle, it looks better. :)
